Historical Elite Core

A parcel of vines, which since the 18th century, is remained planted without derogating from its wine vocation deserves the highest consideration because it means that it made unanimity among vine growers, in the past and today as well. Regarding Gruaud Larose, a third of the estate was planted with vines at the beginning of the 18th century, around 80% during the “Planting Fury” and in 1855. When, with such a farming history, a gravel parcel dating from Mindel I belongs to the edge of the gravel terrace, it definitely deserves the qualifier of "Elite Core". Currently, the high quality gravel grounds belonging to the edge of the gravel soil terrace and planted since the planting fury are the sites which bring a unique structure to the top wine, Château Gruaud Larose. The promotion of the elite remains always the key to the perenniality of a Cru.
